A family from the El Caimito community, in the La Mesa district, is living with hope amid the anguish they face over the health of little Zoé, a three-year-old girl diagnosed with leukemia. Due to the minor's delicate condition, specialists have recommended that to continue her treatment and medical care, she needs a dignified home and a special room that guarantees adequate hygiene and safety conditions. Zoé's discharge from the hospital strictly depends on the family having this home, as their current residence does not meet the minimum requirements to safeguard the girl's health. Faced with this situation, the parents turned to the regional Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MIVIOT) in Veraguas seeking help. This will allow her and her daughter to finally leave the hospital and continue their recovery process together. Juan Andrés Hidalgo, regional director of MIVIOT, explained that the institution remains committed to assisting families that are in urgent need of a housing solution. A team of officials traveled to the site and began construction on a new home, which is already in the foundation stage. Zoila Barría, the child's mother, could not hold back her tears upon receiving the news from MIVIOT staff, who informed her that, if the work pace is maintained, the home could be ready before Christmas. She added that, unlike previous administrations, projects are now being directed to those facing critical situations who need the state's support to improve their living conditions. Zoé's family now awaits the completion of their new home with faith and patience, considering it the essential step to guarantee the child's health and well-being during this difficult stage. The response was immediate.
